Introduction personnelle

Dear Future Host Family, My name is Aghistya, and I recently graduated from university in Indonesia. I would describe myself as a curious, responsible, and caring person who enjoys meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and trying new experiences. I am comfortable communicating in English and excited about the opportunity to become part of a family in a new country. What I look forward to most about being an au pair is becoming part of everyday family life. I hope to build a relationship with my future host family based on trust, honesty, and mutual respect. For me, being an au pair is not only about living abroad, but also about sharing cultures, learning from one another, and creating meaningful memories together. Although I have never worked as a professional au pair or nanny, I have a lot of experience caring for my nephew and niece, who are now four and six years old. My childcare experience began when my niece was born. During her first few months, I lived with my sister and helped care for her on a daily basis. I assisted with feeding, comforting her when she cried, and looking after her while my sister was busy. Through this experience, I learned how much patience, attentiveness, and consistency young children need. As my nephew and niece grew older, I continued to spend a lot of time with them and still see them almost every weekend. Whenever their parents need help, I am happy to look after them. We often spend our time swimming, drawing, coloring, baking, riding bicycles, or simply playing and talking together. These moments have allowed me to build a close relationship with them and understand how different children can be from one another. Because I enjoy being involved in their lives, I have also spent time reading books and articles about parenting and child development. I am interested in understanding how children learn, communicate, and express their emotions. This has helped me become more patient and reminded me that every child has their own personality, strengths, and challenges. For example, my nephew is a very picky eater, which has taught me to be flexible and creative when it comes to meals. My niece, on the other hand, is often nervous about trying new things. Over time, I learned that gentle encouragement works much better than pressure. One recent example was during swimming lessons. She was afraid to put her head underwater, so we took it one small step at a time. Little by little, she became more confident. Now she can hold her breath underwater and enjoys learning new swimming skills. Seeing her overcome that fear was a small moment, but one that made me very proud. Watching children grow and gain confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of spending time with them. After graduating from university, I spent time working in a corporate environment and learned many valuable skills. However, I realized that some of the moments that bring me the greatest sense of fulfillment happen outside the office, when I am spending time with my nephew and niece. Of course, children are not always in a good mood. They have difficult days, get frustrated, and sometimes test your patience. But even on those days, I find caring for them meaningful. I enjoy seeing their personalities develop, hearing their stories, and watching them discover new things about the world. Their laughter and excitement over small achievements always feel like a breath of fresh air to me. These experiences are a big part of why I want to become an au pair. I am excited about the opportunity to support children in their daily lives, become part of a host family's routine, and experience a new culture from the perspective of local family life. At the same time, I would love to share my own Indonesian culture, traditions, and experiences with my future host family. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I look forward to getting to know you and your family, learning from one another, and hopefully creating many wonderful memories together.
