Personal introduction

Dear Host Family, Why would I be the ideal au pair for your family? My name is Olívia Injobua, I am 23 years old, and I come from Mozambique. I believe the best way to answer this question is by sharing a little of my story. My love for children did not begin when I decided to become an au pair. It has been part of my life since I was a child. At the age of 10, I started taking care of my little cousin when she was only six months old. For the next two years, I watched her grow while helping with her meals, hygiene, playtime, and daily routine. This was my first experience caring for a young child with love, dedication, and responsibility. A few years later, between 2015 and 2017, I had the opportunity to support a family from the mother's pregnancy through the birth of her baby. After he was born, I helped care for him from his first days of life until he turned two years old. This experience taught me even more about caring for infants, being patient, and understanding the different needs of each stage of a child's development. In 2018, at the age of 16, I became a catechist at my church, where I taught children between the ages of 6 and 10. Besides teaching, I always tried to create a welcoming, fun, and respectful environment while encouraging values such as kindness, friendship, and respect. My passion for working with children inspired me to study Education at the Pedagogical University of Maputo, where I earned my bachelor's degree. During my studies, from 2021 to 2024, I completed four years of teaching internships in primary schools, working with children between the ages of 6 and 8. These experiences helped me better understand child development, adapt teaching methods to each child's needs, and strengthen my communication, organization, and leadership skills. In 2025, I volunteered at Maputo Central Hospital as a teacher and children's activity facilitator in the pediatric department, working with children between the ages of 3 and 12. My role was to provide educational activities, games, and emotional support, helping make the hospital environment more positive and comforting for the children. In addition, since I was 18 years old, I have been volunteering as a private tutor in my community. I help children and teenagers between the ages of 3 and 15 with their studies, supporting their learning, helping them overcome academic challenges, and encouraging them to become more confident in themselves. Throughout all these experiences, I have learned that caring for children means much more than keeping them safe. It means listening to them, encouraging them, playing with them, teaching them, supporting them, and helping them grow in an environment where they feel happy, respected, and valued. I consider myself a caring, patient, responsible, organized, and dedicated person. I enjoy reading stories, creating educational activities, playing games, helping with homework, and encouraging children's creativity and curiosity. Becoming an au pair means much more to me than simply living in another country. It is an opportunity to become part of a new family, experience a different culture, improve my language skills, and share the values, culture, and hospitality of Mozambique. I hope to build a relationship based on trust, respect, and open communication, becoming someone your family can rely on every day. It would be a true honor to become part of your family and contribute to your children's happiness, growth, and well-being with love, responsibility, and dedication.
